Cardi B continues to write herself into Hip Hop’s history books just a week after receiving another Grammy nomination.

The Bronx superstar’s 2018 collaboration with Maroon 5, “Girls Like You,” achieved 10 million sales in the United States on Monday (November 29), earning it diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Cardi B has made history by becoming the first female rapper to have several diamond hits.

“Wow I received two Diamond records!” the reality TV star-turned-rap sensation wrote on Twitter, celebrating her historic milestone. Thank you so much for inviting me on this song, @maroon5, and this is the song I perform for my kid every time. I’ll be eternally thankful.”

“Girls Like You,” from Maroon 5’s Red Pill Blues album, spent seven weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

The song won multiple Billboard Music Awards and was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2019 Grammys. Its video has over 3 billion views on YouTube.

Cardi’s cameo was described by Adam Levine of Maroon 5 as “the honeymoon time of her moment.” “I believed it was crucial for her to be part because she was just starting to be the female artist that everyone was talking about.” I knew she’d have a unique perspective on what was being said, and she’d do it in a way you wouldn’t expect.”

In March, the 29-year-old Bronx native became the first female rapper to attain diamond status after her 2017 breakout song, “Bodak Yellow,” passed the 10 million sales mark.

Nicki Minaj, her long-time adversary for the title of Queen of Hip Hop, followed suit with “Super Bass” in November.

With “Girls Like You,” Cardi B has made more than just Hip Hop history. According to Chart Data, the 29-year-old rapper is only the third female artist in history to have multiple diamond singles, joining Katy Perry (who has three) and Lady Gaga (who has two) (who also has two).

Cardi B’s “No Limit” collaboration with G-Eazy and A$AP Rocky might put her in front of the pack in no time. According to the RIAA, Rocky has reached 7x platinum status, while her Megan Thee Stallion-assisted “WAP” is currently at 6x platinum.

Cardi B’s 2021 solo hit “Up” is nominated for Best Rap Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards, which will be held in January. Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy,” J. Cole’s “My Life,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Thot Shit,” and Baby Keem’s “Family Ties” are all strong contenders.

Cardi B will win her second Grammy Award if she wins, following her triumph for Best Rap Album for Invasion of Privacy in 2019, which was another first for a solo female rapper.
