Eminem makes history with 1billion streams for The Slim Shady LP on Spotify

With his classic The Slim Shady record, Eminem has merely gone and made history.

The 49-year-old rapper from the United States has surpassed one billion streams for his 1999 release, breaking a record in the process.

Eminem – whose full name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III – is now the first musician with a remarkable 11 albums to attain the milestone.

The Slim Shady LP joins the likes of The Marshall Mathers LP from 2000, Recovery from 2010, Kamikaze from 2018, and Music To Be Murdered By from 2020 in the club of albums with one billion streams.

The musician’s only album that hasn’t surpassed a billion streams is his debut, Infinite, from 1996, but that’s only because it’s not available on Spotify, so he’s truly unstoppable.

Chart Data broke the news on Twitter, and Eminem’s longtime manager Paul Rosenberg retweeted it, writing: ‘Congratulations @Eminem!’

Eminem’s second studio album, The Slim Shady, included the majority of the album’s lyrical content written from the perspective of Eminem’s alter persona, Slim Shady, whom he developed on the Slim Shady EP in 1997.

It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, and critics lauded it for its distinct lyrical style, dark humour, and portrayal of Eminem’s unconventional nature.

My Name Is, the album’s lead track, marked Eminem’s first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, and the album went on to win best rap album and My Name Is won best rap solo performance at the 2009 Grammys.

Eminem became the best-selling music artist of the 2000s and the best-selling male music artist of the 2010s in the United States.

He’s had a long and successful career, and is widely regarded as one of the best rappers and songwriters of all time.

To name a few of his many awards, he has received 15 Grammys, 17 Billboard Music Awards, and an Academy Award.

Eminem’s daughter Hailie Jade recently demonstrated that she is one of her father’s biggest fans by revealing her Spotify Wrapped for 2021.

The 26-year-old, who is the eldest of Eminem’s two daughters, shared which musician she listened to the most this year on TikTok.

Eminem is Hailie’s #1 artist, according to a snapshot of her Spotify round-up. Not only that, but she was in the top 3% of Eminem’s listeners in 2021, boosting Slim Shady’s ego no end.

Meanwhile, Alaina Scott, Eminem’s adopted daughter, confirmed her engagement to her boyfriend Matt Moeller earlier this month.

The pair, who have been together for nearly seven years, shared their happy news on Instagram.

Last August, Nicks — who was scheduled to perform at the Jazz Aspen Festival, BottleRock Napa Valley, Austin City Limits, and New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival — pulled all remaining festival appearances for the year citing a rise in Covid-19 cases throughout the United States.
