Arrest Of Lil Tjay Shooter

In connection with the shooting of rapper Lil Tjay, authorities in New Jersey have made an arrest.

Mohamed Konate of New York was detained and charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and firearms offenses, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a news statement on Wednesday. According to the office’s investigation with the Edgewater, New Jersey Police Department, Konate, 27, attempted to rob Lil Tjay, 21, Jeffrey Valdez, 21, and Antoine Boyd, 19, with a gun.

According to the press statement, Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Merritt, was shot many times by Konate while Boyd, 22, was shot just once.

At 12:08 a.m. on Wednesday, the Edgewater Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at The Promenade in Edgewater, according to the authorities. Lil Tjay was discovered on the site, but Boyd was discovered at a nearby Exxon gas station with just a single gunshot wound.

According to the press release, both victims were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Konate has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of first-degree armed robbery, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree certain persons not to possess a firearm, and fourth-degree aggravated assault. Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New York City Police Department detained the New Yorker, and his extradition to New Jersey is still pending.

Boyd and Valdez, both 24, who were with Lil Tjay at the time of the incident, were also detained and charged with second-degree unauthorized possession of a weapon, according to authorities.
