Ever since their marriage in December 1997, Will and Jada Smith has experienced various ups and downs in their marital union.

Recently after the Oscars infamous slap, there have been heated rumors that the power couple is set to divorce.
If the couple eventually splits, this is going to be one of the most ugliest divorce in Hollywood divorce history. Since Will Smith has a net worth of over 350 million dollars, divorcing Jada Pinkett Smith would result in splitting if his wealth in half, since she’s entitled to it by the Californian law.
The couple’s “public marriage” has been subject to many controversies, there have been problems between them for years which they discuss openly – with their children also – on the Red Table Talk show.
In all, one thing the couple has tried to make clear to the public in their marriage talk show discussions is that divorce will never be an option for them.
According to Jada Smith, it’s about her mental capacity to withstand a divorce. She once said, “For me personally, I’m not mature enough to have a divorce… I’m just not. I don’t think I would ever be mature enough. I don’t”
Will Smith is also on the same page. While many in the media think he needs a divorce but is avoiding it because of the financial saga that would ensue, the Hollywood star has always made it known that is a matter of not having to experience the stress of getting divorced again.
On the Red Table Talk show, he once said, “Because I had been divorced before, I wasn’t getting divorced again. Divorce wasn’t an option”.
Also, Will Smith has always talked about the family philosophy of not being quitters. “We are not quitters”, he would always say.
They could have given up on each other many times in the past, but Will insist they are “not quitters”. So he is likely hell-bent on making the marriage work.
Although the couple hasn’t said anything in regards to this news, stories circulating in the media have it that things have gotten to boiling point after Jada failed to show her support for Will Smith when he slapped Chris Rock in the Oscars Award.

However, Smith has already publicly apologized to Rock on Instagram saying, “I would like to apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the many want to be”.
Jada also posted a brief statement after the event, it says, “ This is a season of healing and I’m here for it”.
The Smiths family has evidently suffered lots of emotional challenges, including a “please your own self” marriage philosophy, raising popular kids, sexual scandals and media gossip. Ending the marriage – according to public opinion – might be a good idea.
But until the Will or Jada Smith talks about this divorce news specifically, we can only speculate.
But what we know for sure, is that the couple have not officially started to file papers, yet.
