Kanye West ‘being lined up’ to replace the late Virgil Abloh as Louis Vuitton creative director

Following the tragic death of design superstar Virgil Abloh, Kanye West could be taking on a prominent new role as the creative director of Louis Vuitton, according to new rumors.

In recent years, the rapper has gone from best-selling musician to starting his own clothing line, Yeezy, and even dabbling in politics — albeit briefly.

Now it appears that the Donda rapper may be pushing his passion for fashion design even further, with rumors claiming that he has been tipped for a top post at the world-famous Louis Vuitton brand.

According to The Sun, Louis Vuitton intends to replace late designer Virgil Abloh with a 44-year-old musician who was a close friend of the late designer.

According to the publication, Kanye and Abloh discussed Kanye taking over the post just before Abloh’s death last month at the age of 41.

‘Kanye is distraught over Virgil’s death,’ a source told the magazine, ‘because they had been friends for years and worked together a lot.’

‘They had a similar vision, and Kanye now feels obligated to Virgil to continue working at Louis Vuitton.’

Kanye West and Virgil Abloh have been friends for almost a decade, first meeting in 2009, and the designer was the creative director for Kanye’s own company, Donda.

After a two-year fight with illness, the Off-White originator and Louis Vuitton designer died on November 28.

Devastated Following the news of Abloh’s death, Kanye dedicated his Sunday Service to him, and later attended his memorial with ex-wife Kim Kardashian and their daughter North.

Kanye was seen supporting Abloh’s sister as she delivered a poignant eulogy for her beloved brother during the memorial.

While earning his Master of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Abloh discovered his passion for fashion and began making his own T-shirts.

Pyrex Vision, his first firm, was formed in 2012, and Off-White, his legendary fashion house, was founded in 2013.

Meanwhile, Kanye’s sneakers and menswear business are believed to be worth ‘billions.’
