Kanye ‘Ye’ West defends performing with DaBaby, Marilyn Manson

In August, Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, defended his performance alongside Marilyn Manson and DaBaby at a listening party for his new album.

Ye revealed his decision to include the artists on “Donda,” his 10th studio album, which is named after his late mother, in a lengthy interview with Revolt TV’s “Drink Champs.”

“All the #MeToo… like, when I sit next to Marilyn Manson and DaBaby immediately after they both got canceled, it’s like they can’t cancel us all,” he remarked.

Ye went on to say: “They’ll accuse you of being with someone you were with ten years ago. There are also women who have been through a lot of trauma and have been dragged down alleys without their will — that’s not the same as a hug, but it’s classed as the same thing.”

On social media, several people chastised the artist.

“It’s not good for Kanye West to talk about #metoo. He’s conflating “a hug” with “women being dragged down alleys.” “Sowmya Krishnamurthy, a Sirius XM broadcaster, took to Twitter. “This is why nothing ever changes. Men in positions of power are unaware of the intricacies of sexual assault and violence.”

DaBaby, who recently received worldwide condemnation for making homophobic remarks about HIV/AIDS patients, was featured on a song in “Donda” that had previously included Jay-Z.

Three women have filed sexual assault cases against Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner.

In April, “Game of Thrones” actress Esmé Bianco filed a lawsuit against Manson, stating that from 2009 to 2013, he committed many violent sexual assaults, a rape, and other forms of abuse.

Ashley Walters, the goth singer’s then-assistant, accused him of sexual exploitation and psychological abuse in May. In June, model Ashley Morgan Smithline filed a lawsuit against Manson, accusing him of sexual assault, violence, and human trafficking.

Manson’s ex-partner, actor Evan Rachel Wood, has also accused him of “horrifically” assaulting her and “grooming” her since she was a teenager. Wood, now 34, met Manson, 52, when he was in his late 30s and she was a teenager. In the late 2000s, they dated on and off, and in 2010, they were temporarily engaged.

Manson has not been charged with any of the alleged crimes. He has continually rejected all allegations of sexual assault, according to a spokesman for him.

The rapper also discussed his split from Kim Kardashian West in the interview, stating he wishes they were still together.

“To me, that ain’t no joke,” Ye, 44, remarked. “My children wish for their parents to remain together. “I’d like for us to be together.”

After more than six years of marriage, Kardashian West, 41, filed for divorce from Ye in February. She and Ye both filed documents this year demanding shared custody of their four children: North, 8, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2 years old.

Later, Kardashian West spoke out about her ex-actions, husband’s pleading for compassion and understanding.

In July 2020, she stated in an Instagram story, “As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder.” “Anyone who has this or has a loved one who has it understands how difficult and awful it is to comprehend.”

“Those who are close to Kanye know his heart and recognize his words don’t always coincide with his intentions,” she added.
