The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will go down in history as one of the most memorable VMAs ever. The show featured Lil Mama jumping on stage during Alicia Keys and Jay-“Empire Z’s State of Mind” performance, in addition to Kanye West’s controversial interruption of Taylor Swift.
Jay-Z addressed the event while participating in a Twitter Spaces session twelve years later. “Of course [we forgive her],’ remarked the Roc Nation founder. C’mon. That is not something you should do. That’s our sister over there. We adore her, man. I wouldn’t advise people to jump on other people’s stages, but we don’t mean any harm to her.”
Jay-comments Z’s on social media were picked up by Niatia “Lil Mama” Kirkland. The 32-year-old “Lip Gloss” singer thanked the billionaire rapper and Alicia Keys on her Instagram account.
