Netflix confirmed in late April 2022 that Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area will premiere on the streaming service on June 24, 2022.

On September 4, 2021, filming for the Money Heist K-drama got under way in Seoul, South Korea. However, the scheduled completion date for filming was kept a secret. The production is almost halfway through after three months of filming were already wrapped up.

Kim Yun-jin as Inspector Seon Woojin

As the chief negotiator and advocate for the South Korean side of the joint task force addressing the hostage issue at the mint, Kim Yun-jin portrays Inspector Seon Woojin. She negotiates with Professor deftly and shrewdly, seeking to arrange the release of all the prisoners safely while also subtly learning more about their captors. In the original series, Itziar Ituo portrays her Spanish equivalent, Inspector Raquel Murillo.

Kim, who portrays the mysterious heiress Sun on the ABC series Lost, will be recognizable to viewers. In the ABC series Mistresses, she also plays Dr. Karen Kim.

Park Hae-soo as Berlin

Berlin, North Korea’s most sought criminal and Professor’s deputy on the ground, is portrayed by Park Hae-soo. Some members of his squad are turned off by his intimidating demeanor and forceful tactics, but his only interest is making off with the money. In the first season of the show, Pedro Alonso plays Berlin.

Park plays the disgraced businessman Cho Sang-woo in Squid Game. Additionally, he has starred in several other Netflix films, such as the drama series Prison Playbook and the suspenseful crime drama Time to Hunt.

Jun Jong-seo as Tokyo

Tokyo, a North Korean immigrant who first turns to gangster robberies before joining Professor’s enterprise, is portrayed by Jun Jong-seo. She’s tough but moral, and she follows the professor’s order to protect the hostages, which puts her at odds with Berlin. In the original series, Ursula Corbero plays Tokyo.

In the time-bending thriller The Call on Netflix, Jun portrays the unusual serial killer Oh Young-sook. Alongside Kate Hudson and Craig Robinson, she made her Hollywood debut in the 2021 movie Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, which had her in the title character.

Lee Won-jong as Moscow

Moscow, played by Lee Won-jong, is a former miner who used his digging prowess to rob a bank in the past and received prison time for it. Park Myung-hoon as Cho Youngmin

He is very possessive of Yun Misun, a member of his staff, with whom he is having an affair. In the original series, Enrique Arce portrays his Spanish counterpart, Arturo Román.

Kim Seung-o as Captain Cha Moohyuk

Kim Seung-o portrays Captain Cha Moohyuk, the stern state security official in charge of leading the task force for North Korea. He rejects talking to the robbers and decides to deal with the hostage situation with quick and unrestrained use of force in opposition to Inspector Seon. A comparable figure from the original series, played by Juan Fernández, is Colonel Luis Prieto.

Kim Ji-hoon as Denver

Lee Joobeen as Yun Misun

Yun Misun, a worker at the mint who is having an affair with Cho Youngmin, is portrayed by Lee Joobeen. As they are being held prisoner, their relationship becomes even more difficult, and she muses over her ideal spouse. In the original series, Esther Acebo portrays Mónica Gaztambide, her Spanish equivalent.

Lee can be seen in the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy series Love to Hate You as well as the 2018 Netflix romantic drama Mr. Sunshine.

Lee Hyun-woo as Rio

Rio, a talented hacker and the gang’s newest member, is portrayed by Lee Hyun-woo. He appears to not be taking the operation as seriously as the others because he is immature and cocky. She thinks he is too juvenile, yet he is lured to Tokyo. Rio is portrayed by Miguel Herrán in the original series.
