Rick Ross says ‘VERZUZ’ battle with JAY-Z is “a possibility”

Rick Ross has been talking about possible VERZUZ opponents, and he’s mentioned JAY-Z, a friend and longtime collaborator.

The Miami rapper sat down with The Real this week to promote his new album, ‘Richer Than I Ever Been,’ and was asked who he would like to face in Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s fight series.

“JAY-Z… Yeah! “Why not?” you could ask. Ross responded. “That, to me, is what distinguishes VERZUZ because it brings out the best in both parties.”

“That’s a possibility,” he said, “but I have to deliver my flowers to the big buddy.” I was able to. My first break came when my homie signed me to Def Jam Records, and he’s one-of-a-kind.”

VERZUZ is a popular entertainment series on Instagram Live, Triller, YouTube, Facebook, and Fire TV that pits producers, songwriters, and musicians against each other in a rap battle format.

Fans, friends, and fellow musicians watch as competitors take turns playing a song from a selection of 20 from their discography.

T-Pain, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Brandy, Monica, Rick Ross, DMX, Snoop Dogg, D’Angelo, and others have all participated since it began in March of last year after Timbaland and Swizz Beatz issued challenges to one another.

Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony met in Los Angeles earlier this month for their highly anticipated VERZUZ showdown.

On December 2, the two groups, widely regarded as two of hip-most hop’s influential, faced off at the Hollywood Palladium.

While the event was a success generally, there was one instance when the two groups, who had a brief spat in the early 1990s, came to blows after Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs became enraged and claimed he was being mocked by Three 6.

Meanwhile, Alicia Keys has stated that if the occasion arose, she would be up for a VERZUZ duel with Rihanna or Beyoncé.
