Taylor Swift Releases a New Version of "The Lakes" for "Folklore" the First Anniversary

Taylor Swift has given fans an anniversary gift to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the release of her Grammy-winning “Folklore” album: an alternate, “original” version of bonus track “The Lakes,” which features a more elaborate arrangement by co-writer/co-producer than the previous recording.

Swift posted on her social media platforms, “It’s been a year since we escaped the real world together and imagined ourselves somewhere simpler.” “With tall tall trees and sea air,” says the narrator. Where you’re free to dress up every day in lace nightgowns that make you look like a Victorian ghost and no one will give you the side eye because no one is around.

It’s just you, your make-believe cabin, and the stories you tell yourself to pass the time. I wanted to send you the original version of “The Lakes” as a thank you for everything you’ve done to make this album what it is. Rebekah, Betty, Inez, James, Augustine, and the lives we all built around them celebrate their one-year anniversary today. Folklore, happy anniversary.”

The existence of a different version of the song was recently revealed in an interview with Antonoff, who stated that Swift had rejected his original production of the song.

“On one of my favorite songs on ‘Folklore,’ ‘The Lakes,’ there was this massive orchestral version, and Taylor was like, ‘Eh, keep it small,’” he said in a Billboard cover story. I’d gotten lost in the string arrangements and other nonsense, so I threw it all out. ‘Oh, my God!’ I exclaimed. We weren’t in the studio together because that record was created [abroad], but I remember thinking to myself, “Holy s–t, this is so great.”

The first anniversary of “Folklore” is July 24, however it is not the first anniversary of “The Lakes” being heard. It was a bonus tune saved for the first physical editions of the album, which will be released on August 7, 2021.

The Lakes” is a love song as well as a fantasy about getting away from it all in a land seemingly free of celebrity snoopers. It is set in England’s Lake district and is seen as one of the more overtly autobiographical songs from the “Folklore” project.

Additional information regarding the “Folklore” CD was also provided in the Instagram and Twitter posts, which corroborated some of the album’s true folklore. Swift finally confirmed the proper identity of the third person in the imaginary teen love triangle sung about in the songs “Cardigan, “Betty,” and “August” by saying that “Augustine” was the name of a character on the album.

The name had been disclosed in the special “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions,” but fans couldn’t tell if she was pronouncing Augustine or Augusta. (Regardless, poor Augusta got the short end of the stick, as Swift has stated that Betty and James reunite in the time-traveling scenario.)

Nicki Minaj and her cousin’s acquaintances are still being mocked. After reading the information about the COVID-19 vaccine causing testicular irritation, 50 Cent and Jimmy Kimmel cracked a few jokes while discussing the forthcoming BMF concert.

“I heard you got Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend’s testicles to be on this program, and I know this is meant to be a surprise, but I heard you got Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend’s testicles to be on this show. Is that accurate?” Kimmel inquired.

50, who is never afraid to tell a joke, jumped right in.

50 joked, “Listen, you didn’t look into the intricacies of the scenario.” “According to the details, he was set to marry. The testicles, I believe, are from the bachelor party. That was never said. Why hadn’t the bachelor party been considered? It was Pfizer if you had a great bachelor party and then your body started swelling.”

If you didn’t get the humor, Pfizer also makes Viagra.

The playful conversation between the two can be heard below.
