TYLER, THE CREATOR, KANYE WEST, J. COLE + MORE REFLECTED IN 2022 GRAMMY AWARD NOMINATIONS

On Tuesday morning, the Recording Academy announced the Grammy Award nominations for 2022. (November 23). They included a wide range of Hip Hop and R&B artists, including Tyler, the Creator, Drake, Nas, Kanye West, and J. Cole, who all received nominations for Best Rap Album.

Last year, Nas won the gilded trophy for King’s Disease, beating out Jay Electronica, D Smoke, Royce Da 5’9, Freddie Gibbs, and The Alchemist in the Best Rap Album category.

Meanwhile, DMX received a posthumous nomination for “Bath Salts” from Exodus, which was completed not long after his April death, in the Best Rap Song category.

The category is completed by Saweetie, Baby Keem, Kanye West, and J. Cole.

Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar for “Family Ties,” Cardi B for “Up,” J. Cole, 21 Savage, and Morray for “My Life,” Drake, Future, and Young Thug for “Way 2 Sexy,” and Megan Thee Stallion for “Thot Shit” received nominations for Best Rap Performance.

This year, Lil Nas X appears to be a Grammy favorite, with five nominations for Record of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Album of the Year, and Video of the Year.

On January 31, 2022, the 64th Annual Grammy Awards will be held. The Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater at 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET, and will be streamed live on GRAMMY.com and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel prior to the telecast.
