When Donald Trump left the White House, he granted presidential pardons to a number of celebrities, including musician Kodak Black.
Now, Kodak is still on Trump’s side, declaring on Tuesday, June 15, just after the former President’s birthday, that he would want to see the former reality star back in office in an Instagram Live.
Who is Kodak Black?

The 24-year-old rapper, better known by his stage name Kodak Black, was born Bill Kahan Kapri on June 11, 1997.
He rose to prominence at the age of 17 with the release of his single No Flockin in 2014.
In 2017, Kodak stunned fans with his debut album Painting Pictures.
Bill Israel, his third studio album, was released while he was jailed (2020).

Why was Kodak Black pardoned by Trump?
On his final full day in office, outgoing US President Donald Trump pardoned or commuting the sentences of more than 140 prisoners, including rap stars Lil Wayne and Kodak Black.
After Snoop Dogg campaigned on his behalf, they were joined by Michael “Harry-O” Harris, co-founder of iconic rap company Death Row Records.
While the omission of Tiger King star Joe Exotic from Mr Trump’s list surprised some, here’s why the three hip-hop fans were granted pardon.
Kodak Black ‘supported underprivileged children’
In 2018, the 23-year-old, whose real name is Bill K Kapri, had a number one album in the United States. In 2019, he was sentenced to approximately four years in prison for lying to get a handgun.
His sentence has since been commuted, with the White House hailing his charitable work. Officials said that “Black is a well-known artist and community leader.”
They stated that “he has committed to supporting a number of humanitarian endeavors, including offering educational resources to kids and families of dead law enforcement officers, as well as the poor.”
He has also “paid for schoolchildren’s notebooks, gave funding and materials to daycare centers, provided food for the hungry, and provided for underprivileged children during Christmas every year.” He also donated $50,000 (£41,000) to Covid-affected small businesses in his hometown of Florida while incarcerated.
Religious leaders such as Ohio pastor and former Trump adviser Darrell Scott, Rabbi Schneur Kaplan, and former New York police commissioner Bernie Kerik – who was pardoned by Mr Trump last year – backed the push for his release.
Hunter Pollack, whose sister was killed in a school shooting in 2018, and fellow musicians Gucci Mane, Lil Pump, and Lil Yachty all backed Kodak Black.
Why was Kodak Black in jail?
In June 2020, Kodak Black was sentenced to 48 months in prison on federal firearms charges.
He admitted to lying on background check forms regarding obtaining many guns.
Two weapons linked to the rapper were later discovered at crime locations.
Who is Kodak Black dating?
According to Capital Xtra, Kodak Black is engaged to Mellow Rackz, a fellow rapper.
The 24-year-old rapper proposed to his girlfriend in February 2021 with a sky message that stated, “Melody, you might as well marry me. I love u.”
“Mrs. Kapri…I said yes,” Mellow wrote on Instagram after accepting Kodak’s proposal.
What did Kodak Black say about Trump returning to the White House?
According to REVOLT, the rapper said in early June, “I would want to see Trump back in government.”
“Even if he let me out of prison, I wouldn’t care. I was still f—-ing with Trump, but with him doing that, you’ve got all my love and s—t. You have my undying love and support.”
